Minerals

Mineral resources are an incredibly broad field of activity for the Geological Survey of the Netherlands (GDN). After all, our subsurface offers a wide variety of mineral resources that our society has been using for a long time. Examples include building materials (such as clay, sand, and gravel), salt, oil, gas, geothermal energy, and of course, groundwater.

Safety and sustainable management both play an important role when it comes to surveying, researching, and advising on mineral-related issues. Knowledge of the subsurface is therefore crucial. We want to share this knowledge as much as we can. You can read more about this under the ‘Minerals’ theme.
