Climate policy, housing construction, and the energy transition not possible without knowledge of the subsurface
The Netherlands is facing major challenges, including climate adaptation, the energy transition, and the need for large-scale housing construction. The subsurface has a vital role to play in relation to all these challenges. But how do you make it transparent? GDN has been researching our country’s subsurface for more than a century. In light of these challenges, it’s crucial to make the subsurface visible.
This (new) website will contribute to doing so. On 1 January 2022, responsibility for the management of the National Key Registry of the Subsurface (BRO) was transferred to TNO. BRO has also developed the BRO-op-straat (‘BRO in the streets’) app, which gives you a street-level perspective of the subsurface. For more information, we refer you to the press release.
