Want to know about the status and forecasts of mining activities in the Netherlands? Then take a look at the latest annual report 2021. The annual report ‘Natural resources and geothermal energy in the Netherlands’ is published every year and is compiled by the Advisory Group for Economic Affairs (TNO AGE), on the basis of data received from the operators of permits under the Mining Act of the Netherlands. We do so on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK).

The annual report reports on the activities and results of the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, rock salt, and geothermal energy in the Netherlands. It also addresses the status and future of the subsurface temporary storage (natural gas, oil, nitrogen) and permanent storage (brine and CO2).

Unlike previous years, the 2021 annual report includes both a low and high scenario for gas production in this year’s prognosis. We have included these due to the recent changing circumstances regarding gas production and related uncertainties.
