Borehole at Eys: digging in Limburg rock from the time of the last dinosaurs

Part of my work at the Geological Survey of the Netherlands (GDN), which is part of TNO, involves the geological mapping of the subsurface. To do so, we use data from databases and archives. Sometimes that isn’t sufficient, so we set out to collect more data for the places we don’t know enough about. Using small-scale seismic research or boreholes, for example. This means heading into the field, which is when things get really fun! In this (Dutch) blog, Geert-Jan Vis will take you on a field trip to a borehole in Eys, Limburg.
